.TAIZE Services
We provide Taize (pronounced "Tie-zay") prayer services for Christian churches of all denominations.  It is an ecumenical prayer service which incorporates meditative common prayer with uncomplicated songs, uncluttered by too many words, allowing the mystery of God to become tangible through the beauty of simplicity.
The service is about an hour in length and is appropriate for all seasons of the year. The cost is minimal and is within the budget of all established churches, and is a well known, established service that is popular with most denominations. Please call us at (518)782-0466 for more information.
=============
This service was established in Taize, a village in eastern France by Brother Roger Louis Schutz-Marsauche, born in 1915, and at present, the Taize community numbers about 100 brothers from different countries.  Brother Roger contacted composer Jacques Berthier to help develop the music of the Taize community.  Berthier was the son of professional musicians and, himself, was an organist and choir director, and developed much of the Taize music.
Sadly, during the evening prayer on Tuesday August 16, 2005, in the midst of the crowd surrounding the Community in the Church of Reconciliation, a woman - probably mentally disturbed - struck Brother Roger violently with knife blows. He died a few moments later.
